The Democratic convention starts in a few short days where it increasingly seems that Obama will complete his coup. He already took control of the national party as the presumptive, but unofficial nominee back in June. Recent news reports document elected Clinton delegates being replaced with the Dear Leader’s supporters. Everyone, including fawning media talk about his upcoming coronation. It is all depressing, frustrating, and cannot be allowed to succeed without a fight.
What can we do? It has been easy to criticize Obama, his cult following, and fawning media. It will likewise be very easy to either sit out the election or vote for McCain. But neither address the real challenge: turning back Obama’s coup now, not in November through his defeat at the polls.
We need a plan of action that is practical and has some reasonable chance of success. There is less than a week to clear the path for Clinton’s nomination. This means less than a week to create the circumstances that would cause Obama to withdraw or that would cause the delegates, including his, to vote against him.
We also cannot ignore the reality that at this late date Clinton may not want the nomination. But, if offered to her, I doubt she’d turn it down and I am confident that she’d still have time to pull together a winning effort in the last several months of the campaign.
Okay, a plan of action.
First, who. Among Clinton’s 18 million voters there has been a consistent contingent who have not given up. The others will surely return if it can be shown that she has a winning opportunity. But most Clinton supporters also have day jobs, have limited resources, and are by and large not in positions that can have direct impact. The Republicans and McCain have taken some shots at Obama but only lightly as it is not in their interest to discredit him too much until after he officially secures the nomination. Their actions then will be too late to help us replace Obama with Clinton.
What can we do? Jump up and down and scream won’t get us much. Writing here and elsewhere feel good but are not accomplishing much so far. The DNC is already firmly in Obama’s control and there is nothing to take to the courts for timely action. The delegates need a real reason to either stand with Clinton or to change their vote from Obama to Clinton.
The media, upon further thought, has been pathetic in their fawning over Obama. This is truly Obama’s weakness as the media can be very fickle. Our opportunity lies in turning them through shame, public pressure, or unavoidable facts. If we can convince or lead the media to conclude that Obama is unelectable, their news of this will be heard by the delegates, especially those who themselves hold elected office. We have less than a week to accomplish what we have not been able to do over these past few months and throughout the campaign. We need to create a groundswell of criticism that is factual, not emotional.
It should be noted, though, that should we fail, our efforts will provide a road-map, though unnecessary, for the Republicans to build upon to defeat Obama in November. We will be blamed for that defeat. Speaking for myself, I have no problem with that as I truly will sit out the election or will vote for McCain. And I recognize that our effort may fail and I am not bothered by the prospect of failure. Better to try than to sit idly by while the Democratic party chooses a bad candidate.
We need to gather together everything on his history and positions that can be supported with quotes and even video. We need every statement, every lie, flip-flop, misstatement, and omission. We need each backed up with at least three credible MSM sources and, better still, with both quotes and video. Skip speculation. If it is not documentable it is not worth our time because it won’t convince any except those already inclined to oppose him.
Next, as and once we gather this information we need to immediately take it to every outlet available: MSM, blogs, flyers, and more. Again, remember we have less than a week to disqualify Obama. He’s not going to quit and no delegate is likely to change their vote unless and until they are given beyond-a-doubt cause. Just asking won’t suffice.
It is all about Obama
Regarding his history, experience, and statement, what does he now say or do and what has he previously said or done. Even more inclusive, look at his claims, his words, and his actions, or the lack of any or all of these. Document with quotes, videos, and/or other reputable MSM. Make the conclusion: Is this a flip-flop, a lie, misstatement, omission, or just plain bad.
- Topic. Short and sweet
- Obama Now Says. His current statements, claims, words, and actions
- Inconvenient Facts. His previously statements, claims, words and actions
- Conclusion. A flip-flop, lie, misstatement, omission, or something entirely
Again, document each, where possible, with three or more quotes, videos, or other reports from MSM. I stress MSM because as biased as they might be they are more likely to be accepted as sources than using non-MSM and advocacy sources. Establishing credibility is important.
How To Act on Information
Three steps: 1. Take direct action, 2. Send information to seed a new Web site, and 3. Help plan additional steps to make this action real and impossible to ignore.
1. Take Direct Action
Go to your normal media sites, including and especially those that are not typically political. Search out statements and references to Obama that are not true or that reflect change. Write comments, write letters to editor/omsbudsman, write posts, and write comments Email authors and editors to point out the error(s) and ask for immediately correction. Set out and write a dozen or 25 or more. Do it today, again tomorrow, and again the next day. Don’t stop. Get your friends and family to do the same. Help create a roar that cannot be ignored.
- Write your own post to highlight fact & fiction of Obama
- Write multiple posts, comments, and email. Make each different or at least have a selection of different ones so that you are not sending the same one multiple times to the same Web site, even if to different people or threads. Variety is important.
- Keep posts short-e.g., something you can read in 30-60 seconds-but with enough detail and references to be meaningful and substantive.
- Be sweet and reasonable. Keep your language respectable and G-rated as if you are talking to your parents, a child, work colleagues, or a member of your church. Don’t offend those who’s support you are seeking.
- Stick around or check back for follow-up; answer the Obama propagandists and apologists with facts.
- Call out those who choose to use derogatory, racist, and sexist rants as a basis of their criticism.
As you write remember that some sites will flag comments with multiple links so you might, when this is encountered, post the name of the link, date, and so forth in a traditional bibliographic reference with sufficient information that someone can use it to locate what you’ve referenced.
2. Send Information to Seed New Web site
TheProblemWithObama.com will host the information that everyone collects and wishes to share. All comments will be moderated as I’m not interested in either creating an unfettered outlet for Obama propagandists and apologists to post their trash. Further, I want to ensure that whatever is posted, including refutations, is to the point, supported by quotes, video, or MSM reports. I want to set a high bar for this so that we can use this information with some level of confidence.
- Please send the results of your research above to StopObama@TheProblemWithObama.com. Include, as above, topic, current, previous, and conclusion.
- I will post these onto the Web site overnight and thereafter with each topic organized as categories.
- Thereafter, add your comments to further support the posts with additional sources; or to refute them. No opinions, just facts please.
- Use this information to write more posts, comments, and letters.
3. Help Plan Additional Action
What can we do next? The first two steps allow us to collect, validate, and use information to shout out our opposition to Obama and to hopefully influence the tone and content of reports about Obama. But this will not be enough to disqualify Obama by the time delegates vote in Denver. Please give this some thought and share your ideas. There are millions of us opposing Obama and supporting Clinton. Somewhere amongst us is the solution or solutions!
My suggestion in this is that I will set up a category and page on TheProblemWithObama.com to host suggested next steps. Please email this with some level of detail on your plan, resources needed, simple plan of action to execute your plan, and a point of contact that might help organize it. Remember, we’ve got less than a week and most folks have day jobs.
What Next?
We have less than one week to stop Obama’s Democratic party coup. If we fail we are left to either sit out the election or to take up McCain’s banner and promote his candidacy. After the election we can then regroup to build a new Democratic Party to prepare for Clinton’s presumed candidacy in 2012.
